Dear Mr. Richman,

The nursing faculty at Jamestown College were delighted to learn that the Thomson Reuters study has named Jamestown Hospital as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country. We have known of the excellence of the hospital for years and we are pleased that your excellent health care facility has been recognized nationally.

We would like to especially congratulate the nurses of Jamestown Hospital. We know that several of the benchmarks used to measure the quality of Jamestown Hospital are direct reflections of the dedication and professionalism of the nursing staff.

Finally, it seems like a good time to express our continued gratitude to the entire health care team at Jamestown Hospital for teaching, mentoring, and guiding our nursing students through their clinical experiences at Jamestown Hospital. Our long-standing affiliation with you has made us complacent and we often neglect to express just how important and appreciated you are.

Congratulations on your national recognition. We are proud to be affiliated with you and look forward with great excitement as you move forward with your plans for a new hospital.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline Mangnall PhD, RN
and the Faculty of Jamestown College Department of Nursing

TOP 100 HOSPITALS IN THE COUNTRY

ONE OF 20 SMALL COMMUNITY HOSPITALS HONORED

While sitting in an airport in Houston, Texas late this past Friday afternoon I received a call from Marty Richman, Hospital CEO, informing me that that he had received a call from the Thomson Reuters organization, which is the world’s leading organization on intelligent information (including healthcare), informing Marty that Jamestown Hospital was an award winner as one of the Top 100 hospitals in the country. Jamestown Hospital was one of twenty hospitals in the “small community hospitals” category to receive the award.

Thomson Reuters maintains a massive healthcare data warehouse that assists hospitals in identifying cost drivers, managing vendors, improving wellness and increasing productivity. In determining the roster of winners, the Thomson Reuters study measures performance in nine areas: Mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, cash-to-debt ratio, patient satisfaction and adherence to standards of care.

In reviewing the performance measures and recalling the myriad of services provided to patients by the various departments of the Hospital, it was easy to conclude that it was the exceptional performance of the employees and the medical staff of the Hospital that have made this award become a reality for Jamestown Hospital. The efforts of the volunteers and the Auxiliary of Jamestown are also to be acknowledged.

On behalf of the Jamestown Hospital board of directors a sincere expression of appreciation is extended to each of you for your consistent commitment to the well-being of patients and the Hospital itself. It is both noticed and appreciated.

Sincerely,
Harvey Huber
Board Chairperson
